What kind of classes do you teach?
Our primary classes are Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Of course both of these styles can be applied to self-defense situations.
What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)?
BJJ is a system of self-defense created in Brazil in the early-mid 1900s. It was developed from Japanese Jiu Jitsu as taught by Mitsuyo Maeda (Count Koma) but Carlos and his younger brother Helio made it better. BJJ uses a sytem of leverage, choke holds, and joint locks for its application. It has been tested and proven over and over again through real-life and No-Holds Barred (NHB) events such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship®, Pride and WEC.
What is Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is a stand-up striking martial art that utilizes eight npoints of contact; strikes with the hands, feet (legs), elbow, and knees against an opponent. The shoulders, arms, and legs (“the wall of defense”) are used to block with and some stand-up grappling (called the clinch) is also utilized.
Do you Offer MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)?
Yes, we offer mixed martial arts for those who wish to learn or compete in it.
Do you compete?
Our school has won titles, medals, and trophies. Come in and check them out. We compete regularly but it is not a requirement. All our trainers and instructors have all competed in their respective disciplines.
What kind of competitions do you participate in?
We compete in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, ShootBoxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling.
Can men, women, and children participate?
Yes, anyone can particpate.
How old do you have to be?
Depends on the individual. We have people from 15 to 60 training right now.
Do I have to be in shape to participate?
As with any exercise program, you should consult with a physician before beginning. Many people have started “out of shape” but they got into better shape through regular training. They started at their own pace and slowly worked into a full training session. Some people have lost in excess of fifty pounds through Muay Thai training.
How often do I have to train?
You can train as often as you like but we recommend trainer two to three days a week to see real results.
Where are you located?
We are located at the corner of 95th and Mission Rd. inside Ranchmart South Shopping Center. We are located inside rEvolution Gym.
What kind of credentials do your instructors have?
All of our trainers have competed and been certified in their respective disciplines. To find out more about our instructors and their qualifications, check each instructor’s Biography from the main menu above.
How much does it cost?
Each person has different expectations and goals. That’s why we try to customize a plan to suit your needs. With this in mind, the cost will vary from plan to plan. So first, come in and try it out. If you decide you wish to continue, then we can sit down and set up plan just for you.
